  • Cut

    Cut is the single biggest factor in how a diamond looks. It's not about shape — it's about how well the facets are angled to catch and return light. A well-cut diamond sparkles from across the room. A poorly cut one looks dull, no matter how big or clear it is. When we help you choose, cut is where we start.

  • Color

    Diamond color is graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (noticeable yellow or brown). Most people can't see a difference between a few grades with the naked eye. We'll show you stones side by side so you can find the sweet spot — the best look for your budget without paying for a difference you'll never notice.

  • Clarity

    Almost every diamond has tiny natural marks called inclusions — think of them as birthmarks. Clarity grades tell you how visible those marks are. The scale runs from Flawless to Included, but many inclusions are invisible without magnification. We'll help you find a stone that's eye-clean without overpaying for perfection you can't see.

  • Carat

    Carat measures weight, not size — though the two are related. A one-carat diamond is about 6.5mm across in a round cut. Prices jump at popular weights like 0.50, 1.00, and 1.50 carats, so going just under those marks can save you real money without any visible difference. We can walk you through the trade-offs.

Diamond Shapes

Shape is about personal style, not quality. Round brilliant is the most popular and delivers the most sparkle. Princess (square) and cushion (soft square) are classic alternatives with strong brilliance. Oval and marquise elongate the finger and can look larger for their carat weight. Emerald and Asscher cuts have a hall-of-mirrors effect with clean, step-cut facets. Pear and radiant round out the most popular options. Certification & Grading

A diamond certificate is an independent report from a gemological laboratory that documents a stone's exact characteristics — cut, color, clarity, carat weight, dimensions, and any inclusions. It's your proof of what you're buying. We recommend always purchasing a certified diamond, especially for engagement rings and significant pieces. We'll walk you through how to read a grading report so you understand exactly what you're getting — no jargon, no surprises.

Settings & Metals

The setting holds your diamond and shapes the look of the entire piece. Prong settings lift the stone to maximize light and sparkle — the classic choice. Bezel settings wrap the stone in metal for a sleek, protective look. Pavé and channel settings line small diamonds along the band for added brilliance. For metals, platinum is the most durable and naturally white — it never needs replating. White gold offers a similar look at a lower price point but requires occasional rhodium plating. Yellow gold is warm and traditional, while rose gold adds a modern, romantic tone. We work with all of them and can help you match the metal to your stone and style.

Caring for Your Diamond

Diamonds are tough, but they still need attention. Clean at home by soaking in warm water with a few drops of dish soap, then gently brushing with a soft toothbrush — especially behind the stone where grime builds up. Avoid harsh chemicals like chlorine and bleach, which can damage settings over time. Store pieces separately so diamonds don't scratch other jewelry. Have your settings checked at least once a year — a loose prong can mean a lost stone. We offer complimentary cleaning and inspections anytime you stop by the shop.

Natural diamonds formed deep in the earth over billions of years. Lab-grown diamonds are created in a matter of weeks using advanced technology that replicates that process. Chemically and visually, they're identical — even a jeweler can't tell the difference without specialized equipment. The real differences are origin and value. Natural diamonds hold their value over time and carry the weight of rarity. Lab-grown diamonds cost significantly less and appeal to buyers who want size and sparkle on a tighter budget.
